Report output

Smallworld® GIS allows to output reports for a certain table. This report may e. g. define grouping or summarizing on certain fields, therefore presenting the data in a pre-defined form. You can find more about this feature in the Smallworld® GIS documentation.

SW-Lookup® allows to use these pre-defined reports as an output format. To achieve this, it is necessary to define these reports and store them as files. Furthermore, SW-Lookup® must know, which reports belong to which tables (this information lacks in the stored report definition file).

Therefore, it is necessary to store the reports in a way which allows SW-Lookup® to provide them as output formats. This is done by storing them in the report base directory in subdirectories named by the internal table names. If in doubt, you can look up the internal table names in the view configuration dialog.

If, for example, you would define a report for footpath, and execute the table query to find all footpaths with more then 0.4 km length, you could choose the following format:

This results in a report which groups the footpaths by class. This is an ASCII file which can easily be stored on the local location or cut and pasted into any word processing application:
