Install the distribution files

Version 2.05 is currently available for GIS version 3.1 (or 3.0), because there is no more request for version 2.2x.

The GIS versions 3.2x and 4.0 will probably be supported from the end of the first quarter 2004.

As far as we know, Smallworld® will run with version 3.0 of the GIS. This has, however, not been thoroughly tested.

The installation file (ZIP-archive) is called swlookup_205_310.zip and contains:

• The 'install' module with the script 'setup.magik', which us used to load the code, create the images, and install the necessary support files (see execute setup).
• A 'pseudo' module called 'executables' which contains the (few) executable files necessary to run SW-Lookup®.
• A 'pseudo' module called 'acps', which contains the files (ACPs) necessary to extend the GIS.
• All Magik modules which form the PeerServer.
• The 'swl_dispatcher' directory, containing all Java® code for the dispatcher and the HTML pages for SW-Lookup®.

Please, unpack these files into an empty directory inside your system where you normally prefer to store your Magik code. For testing, you may also use a temporary directory.

If you should not yet have the Java® Runtime 1.2.2 installed, you may have downloaded the file jre-1_2_2_006-win-i.exe either from our site or from the Sun Java® Download Page JRE 1.2.2; this file contains the Java® runtime environment.

This file should be started on your dispatcher host in order to install the Java® runtime environment (the file above is for windows, contact the Java® homepage for information about other OS versions). The installation must be performed by a user with system privileges. The installation itself is very straightforward and follows the normal Windows conventions.
