Contributions

SW-Lookup® currently uses the following free software components. We would like to thank the authors here for their precious work.

Image conversion

Image conversion from BMP files, which are created by Smallworld®, to the GIS of JPEG format used by the WEB browsers, is done by the following freely available software component:

** NCONVERT v2.90 Copyright 1991-99 Pierre-E Gougelet (Dec 16 1999/11:37:44) **
Version for Windows 95/98/NT (All rights reserved)
** This is a freeware software

This little program comes with a software which is known as XNView. Here the welcome screen (for the german version):

The Dispatcher

The dispatcher is actually to about 80% the work of friendlyGIS®. However, we used a small Webserver application known as "personal WEB Server" as a starting point. Here is the copyright message from the parts of our SWL-Dispatcher code which still contains parts of the original:

** This code covers a system derived from the "personal web server"
**
** Copyright 1997 Clay Lenhart
** lenhart@mindspring.com
**
** from which the framework covering the management of web server
** requests has been taken with quite a lot of modification.

C / C++ - programming

We are using the GNU C Compiler for C and C++ programming. We are very content with this excellent compiler, which is available on a large number of platforms. You can find information about it on the Free Software Foundation homepage for the GCC: GCC Homepage

For programming in the windows environment there is an excellent UNIX like workspace available from CygWin. You can find it here: Cygwin Homepage

Java programming

The SW-Lookup® Dispatcher is developed using the original Java 2 Development Kit from Sun Systems. You can find it here: Sun Java Homepage
